The Research / Method: "Healing via Movement & Joy" "Healing via Movement & Joy" is a movement practice designed to explore the healing potential of dance and improvisation. Rooted in years of experience in dance, movement therapy, yoga, and the Gaga movement language, this method uses improvisation as the main tool to reconnect with the body and bring joy through movement. The method is accessible to all, regardless of experience or body type, and focuses on awakening the body and mind through movement. It explores the relationship between pleasure, effort, and sensation, where movement becomes a gateway to healing. The practice combines aerobic and anaerobic movements to create a balanced approach that supports both physical and emotional well-being. Music, movement therapy, and mindful practices play a central role in this work, guiding participants to feel a deeper connection to their bodies. Through improvisation-based exercises, the body is encouraged to move freely, tapping into instincts, creativity, and joy. Each class starts with a warm-up that ignites the senses and prepares the body for deeper exploration. From there, participants engage in layered tasks that challenge their movement skills, lines, and groove, helping them break free from limitations and discover new ways of moving. The method is designed not only to release tension but also to explore how to treat the body with care and awareness. The final part of each session focuses on mindfulness and relaxation, allowing the body to ground and integrate the sensations experienced throughout the practice. By the end, participants leave with a sense of joy, vitality, and greater body awareness—feeling empowered and more connected to themselves. "Healing via Movement & Joy" is an invitation to rediscover the joy of movement, using dance as a tool for healing, creativity, and overall well-being.
